AMKCO, active in the screening industry, manufactures and supplies vibratory screening machines and pre-tensioned screen decks, enabling materials to be reliably and efficiently separated to size. Amkco can also count Leering Hengelo among their clientele.
For the best screening results, a perfectly tensioned screen deck is essential: the mesh is glued (or spot-welded) under tension onto a ring or frame under controlled conditions, ensuring that each screen deck meets the highest quality standards and delivers a long service life. A critical factor in this process is the adhesion of the mesh to the sieve ring. After bending and welding, the sieve rings were too smooth for the epoxy adhesive. Without sufficient surface roughness, adhesion decreases, resulting in reduced screening quality and shorter screen deck lifetime.
The Challenge: Achieving the Correct Ra-Value for Reliable Adhesion
Creating the right surface roughness on the sieve rings is essential to ensure a proper epoxy bond. Previously, the rings were manually blasted externally in a blast room. The desired Ra-value was not consistently achieved, and outsourcing the blasting also introduced additional logistics and inventory management challenges.
Our Solution
An automated Normfinish blasting installation. To gain full control over both quality and process, the system was equipped with a 40 L pressure vessel, HEPA filter, frequency-controlled turntable (Ø 1.5 m), and an adjustable blasting nozzle.
This setup allows sieve rings from 360 to 1400 mm to be blasted perfectly evenly. The carefully selected blasting medium and adjustable angles ensure that the correct surface roughness is achieved uniformly across the entire surface.
The Result
Reliable adhesion and a super happy customer. The blasting cabin is now running at full capacity in the production hall, delivering the same high quality every day.
